NEWS FROM YOUR PTA
As you have likely heard by now, our 2019 Dance-a-thon was a huge success! We are still awaiting the official total, but it appears that our net total (after online fees) is over $36,000!!
We are blown away by the generosity of our BPE community, and we could not have done it without the support of all of you!
Dance-a-thon funds are funneled directly back to the school via our PTA budget which includes may supplemental programs in addition to the grade level and teacher grants that we provide. Dance-a-thon ensures that we can financially cover all of our planned activities for the year.
But THEN we get even more than we budgeted for!! And this is where we need your help. In the coming weeks, we will be soliciting feedback to help us decide how we should spend the additional money that we received from this year’s Dance-a-thon.
What now? We need to hear from you! We will be collecting input until the end of day on November 22nd. Please share your feedback prior to this day. We will then present all ideas to our Executive Board, who will narrow the list down before presenting at a special General Membership meeting for a final vote.
In closing, we would like to share the National PTA mission statement: To make every child’s potential a reality by encouraging and empowering families and communities to advocate for all children. We will be using this “every child” lens to guide us in final budget decisions.
Please email us at firstname.lastname@example.org with your ideas. Or, if you would prefer, submissions may also be turned into the school office – please request that they be placed in the PTA box.
WE SCARE HUNGER
Thank you to everyone who donated food during our We Scare Hunger Food Drive. In partnership with Crescent Heights, Meeker Middle School, and NE Tacoma Elementary, we collected 8,801 food items for the NE Tacoma Healthy Kids Coalition. Way to go Belugas!
HEALTH ROOM NEED
The health room is running low on boys’ pants sizes 6 & 8. If you are able to donate gently used pants in these sizes to the health room, we would graciously accept them.
NET HEALTHY KIDS COALITION
We need your help spreading the word about the work of the NE Tacoma Healthy Kids Coalition to support students at our four local schools.

SAVE THE DATE & VOLUNTEERS NEEDED
This year, Browns Point PTA, in partnership with ASB, will be organizing a day of service on Martin Luther King Day (Monday, January 20, 2020.) We are encouraging students and their families to have a "day on" not a "day off" and to perform an act of community service. We are looking for volunteers to serve as "team captains" to lead community service opportunities for students and their families. If you are interested in organizing a community service opportunity for Browns Point families, email us your name and contact phone number to email@example.com, along with a brief description of the volunteer opportunity you would like to lead. We will be sharing information about how to sign up to participate in our day of service in January but for now, save the date!
We would like to thank Rachel Grant & Marcie Hubbard for attending the Washington State PTA Legislative Assembly on our behalf and presenting their experience and information at out General PTA Membership meeting this past week. We would also like to thank Principal Horner and Auna Doyle for presenting our School Curriculum and Continuous Achievement Plan (CAP). Both presentations were insightful and informative. Thank you!
HAVE A GREAT WEEK!
